Department Head: Wes Jarrell

Our department seeks to better understand and effectively manage landscape processes and the products of landscapes in Illinois, regionally, and internationally. Our faculty in food crops and ornamental horticulture, forestry and other natural resources, soil, water, environment, and human dimensions of the environment develop solutions based on their research that enhance the sustainable use of land and water resources and support the social and economic health of individuals and communities from Chicago to the most rural environment.

We have many cooperative opportunities with the $4.7-billion ornamental horticulture (“green”) industry of Illinois, food crop systems from production to marketing, water quality, soil productivity and quality, and the impacts of environment on individuals and communities.
