The News and Public Affairs section provides leadership and service in media relations, public relations, and planning communications strategies for the College of ACES.

Among our services:

• Manage media relations, including monitoring coverage and initiating contacts
• Advise faculty on working successfully with the media
• Consult with faculty and staff on public relations issues
• Plan communications strategies for programs, special projects, and specific program areas
• Manage special projects related to stakeholder and organizational communications
• Support the communications office and activities of the Illinois-Indiana Sea Grant Program

On a daily basis, staff produce regular print and broadcast services, including:

• Farm programming to radio stations
• Television programming to local, state, and national outlets
• News releases and science reports to daily and weekly newspapers and to magazines
• Media packets to U of I Extension field offices
• Issue-oriented tabloids, special publications, and brochures for external audiences
