Results of the 2001 Showcase Swine Sale at Illinois State Fair
Published: Aug. 20, 2001
The 11th annual Junior Showcase Swine Sale took place on Tuesday, August 16. The sale was established to encourage young breeders to invest in purebred animals and is sponsored by the Illinois Purebred Swine Council. Of the earnings from each barrow sold, the exhibitors get 85 percent. The other 15 percent is divided evenly among Illinois FFA, Illinois 4-H Foundation, and the Ryan and Friends Memorial Scholarship Fund. The four scholarship recipients this year are Doug Hankes of Galesburg, IL; Kevin Ward of Jacksonville, IL; Neil Frank of Athens, IL; and Allison Mosely of Arrowsmith, IL.
Following are brief descriptions of the exhibitors and their barrows and the buyers who purchased them:
