LARGESEED FALSEFLAX, Camelina sativa (L.) Crantz. 1, roots; 2, upper stem with seed pods and flowers; 3, flowers; 4, seeds. Annual or winter annual, reproducing by seeds. Stems 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90 cm) tall, smooth or hairy, branched, becoming woody at maturity. Leaves arrow shaped, sharp-pointed, 2 to 3 inches (5 to 7.5 cm) long, with smooth edges. Flowers small, pale yellow or greenish-yellow with 4 petals. Seed pods 1/4 to 1/2 inch (6 to 13 mm) long, pear-shaped, slightly flattened. Seeds small, pale yellow-brown, oblong, rough, with ridged surface. Found chiefly in flax- growing areas.

 SMALLSEED FALSEFLAX, Camelina microcarpa Andrz. Similar to the above but smaller. Stems 1 to 2 feet (30 to 60 cm) tall. Pods 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3 to 6 mm) long. Found in flax-growing areas.
